This project is a continuation of the exhibition In the Wake of Our Archives: On Transmission and Inherited Memories, featuring artists Mallory Lowe Mpoka and Ethel-Ruth Tawe, presented at articule and the Goethe-Institut in Montreal from November 2025 to January 2026, as part of the RAN symposium.
While Ancestral Frequencies extends some of the lines of thought initiated in this first chapter, it nevertheless asserts itself as an autonomous curatorial gesture. Presented at the Alliance Française de Montréal, the exhibition deepens the reflection on the notion of embodied and living archives, emphasising the sonic and immaterial dimensions of transmission, as well as what remains inaudible, fragmented or absent from dominant historical narratives.
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Alliance Française de Montréal, SAVVY Contemporary and the Goethe-Institut de Montréal.
