On February 15, 2025, from 14:00 to 19:00, a special event will take place for Black History Month: Hair Confidences - Hair Discrimination, hosted by Noëllie Kouakou and Awa Paulette SY.
This themed day will address the sources of hair discrimination through two distinct parts.
Part 1 will include a presentation followed by a discussion panel featuring guests such as a hair care specialist, a chiropractor, and a professional hairstylist. Over the course of two hours, participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions during a Q&A session. An Afro-inspired cocktail will be offered to participants who register via Eventbrite, and gifts will be distributed through a raffle. Prizes include an adult product pack with accessories, a child product pack, and two personalized one-month hair coaching sessions (valued at $200 each). These coaching sessions will include a hair diagnosis, routine development, and personalized online follow-ups (four sessions of one to one and a half hours). The session will end with a cocktail and acknowledgments for the panelists.
Part 2 will feature hands-on workshops for mothers and their children aged 1 to 16. These workshops, lasting one to one and a half hours, will focus on pain-free detangling and twists, as well as raising awareness about positive language. Participants will be provided with equipment such as mirrors, fine-tooth combs, scrunchies, clips, elastics, and beads, as well as products like sprays, conditioners, and oils. Each participant will leave with a small hair care guide, scrunchies, and product samples. Snacks and juice will also be served.
