APOAC Celebrates Black History Month Under the Banner “A Portrait with Many Faces”
Vaudreuil-Dorion, February 2026
APOAC – the Association of People of African and Caribbean Origin of Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Beauharnois-Salaberry – is proud to announce the official program for Black History Month celebrations, which will take place throughout the month of February under the theme “A Portrait with Many Faces.” Through a wide range of cultural, artistic, and educational activities, APOAC invites the public to discover, celebrate, and share the richness of Afro-Caribbean cultures, as well as their contributions to the history and development of our communities.
A Diverse and Inclusive Program:
The celebrations will begin on February 1 with the event “AU Village,” to be held at the Opticentre in Vaudreuil-Dorion. This Afro-Caribbean–inspired gathering will feature live performances by musical groups, dance shows, culinary tastings, interactive workshops, and traditional Afro-Caribbean games.
Throughout the month, a traveling exhibition will circulate between Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Beauharnois-Salaberry. On February 8, at La Factrie in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, the exhibition “One Face, Many Realities” will highlight the many faces, journeys, and lived experiences of Black communities in the region.
A lively exhibition opening (vernissage) will take place on February 15 at Immaculate Conception Church (Belle-Rive sector) in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, offering an immersive and unifying artistic experience.
The celebrations will conclude with a closing event on February 28 at the Raphaël-Barrette Building hall in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, marking the end of a month rich in discovery, exchange, and celebration.
