This exhibition recounts the resistance of enslaved people in Quebec in the second half of the 18th century. Based on descriptions in wanted posters published in Quebec and Montreal newspapers, it illustrates some fifteen African, Afrodescendant and Aboriginal people who fled between 1767 and 1798.
The Fugitives! exhibition gives a human face to people dehumanized by slavery, and demonstrates their resistance to the practice.
