Monique Milia-Marie-Luce, a doctor in history and a lecturer-researcher at the University of the Antilles, gives a lecture.
For the third edition of its lecture series, this event highlights the story of Pauline Firmiez, a Guadeloupean domestic worker who arrived in Quebec in 1911. She became an iconic figure in the "Aunt Jemima" advertisements of the Pearl Milling Company in the 1940s. This fascinating lecture, enriched with private archives, explores a little-known chapter of history.
In collaboration with the Round Table on Black History Month, the Université des Antilles, 3 siècles de migrations francophones en Amérique du Nord and the Ecomusée du fier monde.
