Tribùt: The Third Solitude – A Unique Immersive Cultural Experience in Laval
Tribùt 2025 returns on February 15th and 16th at Place Bell, as part of Black History Month, with a new immersive experience that invites the public to discover a lesser-known aspect of our collective history. This event will highlight the contributions of Black communities in Quebec and Canada, while exploring the historical and cultural connections that have shaped our societies. Through captivating stories, multimedia projections, and artistic performances, Tribùt creates a space for dialogue between the past and the present.
The Third Solitude: Exploring the Links Between Black and Quebec/Canadian Communities
The concept of "The Third Solitude" is based on the idea that beyond the two traditional solitudes – French-speaking and English-speaking – there exists another reality: that of Black communities, often marginalized in official narratives. Tribùt 2025 invites the public to reflect on these dynamics of inclusion by highlighting the journeys, struggles, and contributions of Black people over the decades.
This edition focuses on the period from 1925 to 1975, an era marked by civil rights struggles, social emancipation movements, and a strong assertion of identity that transformed Black communities worldwide. Through stories and performances, Tribùt explores the historical points of intersection between Black and Quebec/Canadian communities, emphasizing their shared experiences of resilience, identity affirmation, and the fight for social justice.
A Diverse and Captivating Artistic Program
Tribùt 2025 brings together a series of performances that blend art, music, dance, and storytelling. Among the artists and groups featured are the Rootine Troupe, Bonga, Bella Forté, Sarah-Judith Hinse-Paré, and the Gospel Inclusion Choir, directed by Ludovic Dubé, who will present vibrant performances. These performances, enriched by multimedia projections and stories, allow the audience to experience a fun and educational journey, immersing them in the historical narratives and struggles of Black communities in Quebec and Canada.
Guests will be encouraged to move, participate, and sing, becoming active participants in the experience. Each moment aims to create a living space for exchange and sharing, where the audience helps bring the stories and performances to life.
Petite Tribùt – A Cultural Awakening Space for Children
As part of Tribùt, a special section called Petite Tribùt will be dedicated to the younger audience. This part of the event offers workshops and animated storytelling, allowing children to discover the history and culture of Black communities in Canada and around the world in a fun and educational way. Petite Tribùt provides a space for reflection and learning, where younger generations can connect with their cultural heritage while having fun.
An Immersive Adventure for the Whole Family
The goal of Tribùt is to offer families an immersive cultural adventure where history and art come together to inspire reflection and awakening. Through vibrant performances and powerful testimonies, the event offers an experience that goes beyond simple entertainment, raising awareness of issues of identity, inclusion, and diversity.
