For the third year running, Mon Afrique à Lanaudière is celebrating Black History Month, a month entirely devoted to highlighting the history of black people, still too often unknown to the general public, and the challenges they still face.
To raise awareness of the rich heritage of black people and celebrate cultural diversity, we invite you to join us on Saturday, February 15, 2025, starting at 6 p.m. at the Centre André-Hénault, 249 Chem. du Golf E, Saint-Charles-Borromée, QC J6E 8L1.
Conferences and musical performances, dinner and dancing will punctuate this event, highlighting the contributions of black people in fields as varied as the arts, sciences and politics.
Black History Month is a time to celebrate, recognize and commemorate the history, culture, achievements and contributions of black people around the world. It's an opportunity to highlight the past and present achievements of Afro-descendants across Canada, and to underscore their role in the development of society.
Black History Month aims to raise public awareness of the Black experience, highlighting the challenges they have overcome and those they still face, the struggles for equality and civil rights, and their contributions in diverse fields such as education, entrepreneurship, politics, sports, literature, health, and many others.
It's a time to tell the often forgotten or marginalized stories of black people, and to recognize their importance in the construction of collective history. Black History Month encourages reflection, education, dialogue and the promotion of inclusion, diversity and equality.
You can register on the Mon Afrique à Lanaudière Facebook page or by calling 579 960-3291.
