Frantz Voltaire is currently President of the Board of Directors of the International Center for Haitian, Caribbean and Afro-Canadian Documentation and Information (CIDIHCA), which he founded in 1983, as well as other cultural organizations. He was born in Haiti in 1948 and did his university studies in history and political science at FLACSO in Chile and at the University of Montreal then at UQAM in Quebec. He has taught at the University of Chile, UQAM, UdeM, the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the State University of Haiti.
He has produced numerous documentaries that touch on several aspects of Haitian history and culture and is currently director of the Revue d’Histoire Haïtienne. He will come and talk to us about the history of black people in Montreal.
