La rumeur a-t-elle dit vrai ? Les archives du procès permettent d’en douter, Angélique ne s’est pas sauvée. Elle est demeurée sur place pour aider sa maîtresse alors que son amant s’est enfui. Arrêtée et jetée en prison, Angélique clame haut et fort son innocence. L’est-elle? Si oui, qui est coupable? Ou serait-ce un accident?
FOGO relate le procès de l'esclave Marie-Josèphe Angélique.
D’une durée de 60 minutes, l’événement FOGO combine théâtre et musique. FOGO est un texte puissant qui rend hommage à l’esclave Marie-Josèphe Angélique. Accompagnées du saxophoniste CHARLES PAPASOFF, JOHANNE DUCTAN-PETIT et YARDLY KAVANAGH interprètent cette vibrante histoire. Complétant l’ensemble à l’aide de ses percussions, CAROL JONES assure également la mise en scène de l’œuvre. La représentation sera suivie d’une discussion sur l’utilisation du « mot en N » dans le contexte de notre création artistique.

Did the rumor tell the truth? The archives of the trial allow us to doubt it, Angelique did not save herself. She stayed behind to help her mistress while her lover fled. Arrested and thrown in prison, Angélique loudly proclaims her innocence. Is it? If so, who is guilty? Or could it be an accident?
FOGO recounts the trial of the slave Marie-Josèphe Angélique.
The 60-minute FOGO event combines theatre and music. FOGO is a powerful text that pays tribute to the slave Marie-Josèphe Angélique. Accompanied by saxophonist CHARLES PAPASOFF, JOHANNE DUCTAN-PETIT and YARDLY KAVANAGH interpret this vibrant story. Completing the ensemble with percussion, CAROL JONES also directs the work. The performance will be followed by a discussion on the use of the "N-word" in the context of our artistic creation.
