Nigra Iuventa, in partnership with the Alliance Française de Montréal, is pleased to invite you to the opening reception of the exhibition Ancestral Frequencies on February 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the Alliance Française de Montréal.
This group exhibition also marks the inauguration of the Alliance Française de Montréal’s new cultural space. It brings together works by Miryam Charles, Yannis Davy Guibinga, Eno Inyangete, and Ethel Tawe, and explores the notions of embodied and living archives through artistic practices attentive to the sonic, immaterial, and fragmentary dimensions of transmission.
Extending from the project In the Wake of Our Archives: On Transmission and Inherited Memories (articule / Goethe-Institut de Montréal, 2025–2026), Ancestral Frequencies deepens these reflections while asserting itself as an autonomous curatorial gesture. The exhibition foregrounds what remains inaudible, fragmented, or absent from dominant historical narratives, questioning sensitive and mnemonic modes of transmission.
