From Othello's kiss to the Spike Lee movies monologues, the performers of Cabaret Noir have fun tinkering with reenactments of iconic scenes from theater, cinema, and television. They explore the Manichean representations of racism in popular imagination.
In this cabaret with contrasting acts, voices are doubled and expressed in French, English, and Creole. A range of references to key works of North American Afro-descendant cultures (from Frantz Fanon, Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, Dany Laferrière, among others) forms the subtext of this creation.
An event presented as part of the CAM on tour.
