FOVA presents – Memory and Transmission
With Marie-Denise Douyon and her guests
February 28 | 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
FOVA invites you to an intergenerational and multidisciplinary gathering centered on the themes of memory and transmission, at the crossroads of artistic expression, history, and education. Led by author and illustrator Marie-Denise Douyon, this event offers an open space for dialogue where diverse voices, experiences, and forms of expression come together.
Alongside Marie-Denise Douyon, the event will bring together a spoken word artist, a cultural mediator, a historian, and a young participant, creating a rich exchange of perspectives and fostering a collective reflection on how stories, cultural heritage, and lived experiences are passed from one generation to the next.
Through presentations, conversations, and moments of shared discussion, the speakers will explore essential questions: how can we share the past with young people without either overwhelming or erasing it? What role do art, literature, and oral traditions play in transmitting individual and collective histories? How can bridges be built between generations to encourage understanding, empathy, and meaningful dialogue?
Open to all audiences, this activity is designed for families, parents, and adolescents, as well as educators, cultural mediators, and artists. It also offers a valuable opportunity for school staff, including teachers and school administrators, to reflect on sensitive and inclusive approaches to addressing memory and social issues with young people.
An invitation to listen, to question, and to pass knowledge forward—together.
