La construction de l'altérité noire dans les jouets au Canada, 1945-1980.
Presentation by Philippe Bélanger-Landry - UQAM
In this presentation, Philippe Bélanger-Landry examines racialized toys marketed in Canadian department store catalogues from 1945 to 1980. He shows how the toys depicting figures of racial otherness referenced and reinforced a range of stereotypes and acted as informal instruments of racial socialialization.
